Three big names in Hollywood are hooking up with Tom Cruise this weekend to find out who will get lucky enough to snag a role in the upcoming post-apocalyptic film Horizons, which is occasionally also known as Oblivion. Will it be Kate Beckinsale, Diane Kruger or Hayley Atwell crash-landing on a barren Earth?

Oblivion (or Horizons) tells the story of a soldier (Tom Cruise) living on Earth to work on the drones that hunt down and destroy the savage aliens that almost destroyed the planet. It’s a lonely existence because everyone that survived the annihilation is now living in cities built on clouds. At least it’s lonely until a ship carrying a female passenger crashes on the planet.

According to Deadline, Beckinsale (Underworld Awakening), Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) will be reading with Cruise this weekend to find out who will snag one of two female leads. The other major female role, Cruise’s wife, has already been filled by Jessica Chastain (Texas Killing Fields).

Production on the film is expected to start early next year with a theatrical release planned for July 2013.
